hey, WE ARE LIVE YONDER
Ben has lived in Adelaide since he was a tiny terror. Ben has worked within South Australia's engineering industry moving from a qualified trade to senior management for over 15+ years.
We have been together for eight years and have two children, Zara (5 years old) and Maxine (6 months old).
Jo was born and lived in Adelaide, moved to Cairns then Sydney, before travelling and working in New York then returned to South Australia.
Since graduating in Sydney with a Media Arts degree in 2007, Jo has worked professionally as a photographer and digital marketer in Australia
Meet Jo, the captain of the family (don't tell Ben I said that!).
Meet Girl-dad, Ben...
We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.
After the birth of Maxine in 2022, we decided to embrace the time we have with our kids while they are young and take them on the road trip of a lifetime. As we travel, we hope to teach Zara and Maxine real life skills outside of the traditional learning environment as we visit one campsite at a time around Australia.
We wanted more out of life and our relationships with our KIDS.
At the height of our careers in large corporations, we realised the time we have with our children while they are young is fleeting. Our purpose and passion is for our family. While Ben and I worked long hours each week, Zara was in the daycare environment for up to 10 hours a day. It didn't seem like the right fit for our family. After Zara was born, we found the juggle of parenting and pushing for a brighter career more difficult than before. We both felt like we didn’t see Zara much during the week and we felt we had little influence on some of her biggest life lessons in those foundations years.
Over seven years and five pregnancies, we welcomed Maxine into our arms and Zara was introduced to her little sister. The experience of loss as parents was a very challenging experience for us as a couple. We are taking every opportunity to spend quality time with each other and our children to build a strong family unit together.
Choosing to live on the road has given us true location freedom, a more simple and clutter-free life; and has gifted us with experiences that will last us and our kids for a lifetime. Of course, living with kids on the road has its bad days - and you question your decision to uproot your family regularly, but these moments pass quickly as the moments of bliss far outweigh them.
GROWING OUR FAMILY WAS CHALLENGING...
Zara
Zara is an ‘ideas’ lady that wants to be a teacher when she is older so she can tell people what to do. Zara is very physically ambitious (she can ride her bike like a champ) and is awesome at puzzles and crafts. She loves to be behind and in front of the camera. Highlight of the trip so far is that she got to feed a huge crocodile off a boat.
Max
With her favourite outfit being a smile, Max is already showing a love for adventure and hates being confined to the caravan. She's getting ready to walk and you can find her heading towards the water. Highlight for Max is when she get to eat dirt.
